Blind Young Girl Graduates from University with Her Mother's Support

Kardelen Tezcan, who lost her sight at the age of 18, graduated from university with the support of her mother. Kardelen Tezcan successfully completed her degree in the History Department of the Faculty of Letters at Dokuz Eylül University.
The young girl, who was diagnosed with retinal detachment in her left eye at the age of 18, later developed the same condition in her right eye and lost her sight in both eyes. After completing her high school education through distance learning, Tezcan did not give up on her dream of education despite losing her sight. After an intense preparation period, Tezcan, who took the exam four years ago and won the History Department of the Faculty of Letters at Dokuz Eylül University, had difficulty following audio recordings and taking notes when classes started.
With the approval of the department head, her mother Ebru Tezcan started attending her daughter's classes. The mother, who sat beside her daughter in university classes for four years, took notes and supported her daughter in preparing for exams. After completing her education, Kardelen Tezcan experienced the excitement of graduation with her mother. Dokuz Eylül University Rector Prof. Dr. Bayram Yılmaz presented a certificate of appreciation to Ebru Tezcan, who made significant contributions to her daughter's education, and dressed her in a gown at the graduation ceremony.
