Balloons Released for Göktuğ: Support for DMD Patient's Treatment

A celebration event was held in İzmir, Turkey, to mark the completion of a fundraising campaign for Göktuğ Ordu, a child suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Hundreds of people attended the event, which included a balloon release to support Göktuğ's treatment.The event was held on Pamucak Beach, where participants released colorful balloons prepared for Göktuğ. Göktuğ's mother, Sebile Ordu, expressed her gratitude for the support they received during the challenging treatment process, which enabled the campaign to be completed successfully. Göktuğ's father, Eyüp Ordu, emphasized the importance of solidarity and thanked everyone who contributed to the campaign.Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder that affects children and is one of the most common inherited muscle diseases. The disease is caused by a mutation in the gene that produces dystrophin, a protein essential for muscle cell integrity. In the absence of this protein, muscle cells are damaged and eventually replaced by connective tissue and fat.The fundraising campaign for Göktuğ's treatment was completed with support from various cities in Turkey. Göktuğ's mother hopes that her son will be as supportive of others as the people who have supported him throughout his treatment.
