George Clooney and Family Forced to Evacuate Home Due to French Wildfires
Renowned actor George Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, were forced to evacuate their home in Brignoles, France, due to the massive wildfires sweeping the southern region. In a letter to the mayor, George Clooney expressed uncertainty about the fate of their home, stating that they do not know if it will survive the disaster. He also expressed his love for Brignoles and its community.

We don't know if our beautiful home will survive this terrible disaster. As we leave Brignoles, we want to emphasize two things. First, we wish for the safety of you and everyone in our town. Second, Amal and I are committed to being part of this community and contributing to its recovery, no matter what happens.

The Var Prefecture announced the evacuation of some neighborhoods due to the fire that started near Brignoles on Wednesday evening. The Clooneys purchased their property in Brignoles in 2021 and were granted French citizenship in December 2025. Extreme heatwaves are causing massive wildfires across Europe, with France being particularly affected. At least 220,000 people and tourists have been evacuated due to the fires, which are mainly affecting pine forests. The fire in the Gironde region is the largest forest fire in France since 1949, burning approximately 42,000 hectares of land.
