Strawberry Moon Visible Tonight

Strawberry Moon Visible Tonight
The 'Strawberry Moon', the first full moon of June, will be visible in European skies this evening. The full moon will reach its peak brightness at 01:57 on Tuesday. This year's full moon is classified as a 'micro moon' due to its distance from Earth, approximately 406,000 kilometers away. This will make it appear 7% smaller and 10% dimmer than a regular full moon. The 'strawberry' in its name refers to the fact that June is the month when wild strawberries are harvested in North America. Instead of a red moon, skywatchers can expect to see a golden hue. The moon's position near the horizon will cause its light to pass through thicker layers of the atmosphere, resulting in a orange and golden color, similar to what is seen during sunsets.
