Gayrettepe-Halkalı Metro Breaks Passenger Record

The Gayrettepe-İstanbul Havalimanı-Halkalı Metro Line broke its passenger record by serving 53,396 passengers on Monday, June 22. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that there has been an increase in passenger numbers since the line started commercial operations on June 20.Prior to the opening of the 22-kilometer Halkalı-Arnavutköy section, the line had served over 33 million passengers, with the highest number of passengers recorded on April 30, with 47,925 passengers. Uraloğlu noted that with the addition of the new section, the overall performance of the line has improved, with 53,396 passengers served on June 22.The minister highlighted that the new stations, including Halkalı, Halkalı Stadı, Olimpiyatköy, Kayaşehir, and İbn Haldun Üniversitesi, have made a significant contribution to the line's overall performance. Uraloğlu also shared that the Halkalı-Arnavutköy section served 56,555 passengers in three days and that the daily average number of passengers between Gayrettepe and Arnavutköy has increased to 35,949 in 2026.
