Illegal Football Betting Operation: 5 People Face Arrest

A total of 17 suspects were detained in an investigation into illegal betting and match-fixing in football in Istanbul. The procedures for the suspects at the police station have been completed, and among them are some club executives. 5 suspects have been referred to the magistrate's court with a request for their arrest. As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Unit, the suspects who were taken to the courthouse and gave their statements to the prosecutor included Tolga Kırgız, Kerem Gürel, Ünsal Yamaner, Savaş Tatil, and Özgür Durşen, who were referred to the magistrate's court with a request for their arrest. House arrest was requested for Halil İbrahim Yavaş, Hüseyin Gözütok, Avni Akdemir, and Maruf Güneş, while a travel ban was requested for Ahmet Akçelik, Ali Gürsoy, Sezgin Özkan, Kemal Aydın, Ömer Çetin, and Barış Orhun Bilge. Two suspects detained as part of the investigation were released after giving their statements to the prosecutor.
