19 People Detained in Prostitution Operation

A total of 19 people were detained in an operation against prostitution, which was carried out in 11 cities, centered in Kocaeli. The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Kocaeli Police Department's Morality Bureau.The operation involved a 2-month technical and physical follow-up process to detect prostitution, rescue victimized women, and prevent venereal diseases. During this process,As a result of the operation, 19 suspects were detained on charges of 'forming a criminal organization' and 'encouraging, mediating, and providing a place for prostitution'. The operation was carried out simultaneously in 11 cities, including Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Amasya, and Van.In addition, 15 victimized women, 12 of whom were foreign nationals, were rescued during the operation. Unlicensed weapons, cartridges, an account book containing prostitution records, and a large number of digital materials were seized in the searches conducted at the suspects' addresses.The successful completion of the operation is seen as an important step in the fight against prostitution.
