Russia Responds to France's 'SOS Donbass' Case: 'Kiev's Arms Supplier Paris Prosecutes Aid Volunteers'

Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova strongly criticized the trial of 'SOS Donbass' President Anna Novikova in France. Lantratova defined the case, which began with a complaint from the French Union of Ukrainians, as 'a completely absurd accusation'. Novikova collected diapers and food for children, but France is treating these aids as a dangerous espionage activity. Lantratova pointed out that the Paris administration's heavy weapons sent to Ukraine have resulted in the loss of civilian lives, and described the prosecution of aid volunteers as 'hypocritical politics'. The Russian official stated that Novikova tried to inform the European public about the situation in the region, and 'telling the truth and helping civilians in the West is now considered a crime'. The trial of Novikova, who faces up to 15 years in prison on espionage charges, began today in Paris. Novikova, who was detained in France in November 2025, provided food, medicine, and clothing assistance to the region under the umbrella of 'SOS Donbass'.
