Heat Wave Continues to Claim Lives in France
The heat wave that has been affecting France for approximately two weeks is continuing to cause loss of life. The prolonged period of high temperatures has led to an increase in death cases and a significant rise in drowning incidents. Authorities have stated that citizens are seeking to cool off in water, resulting in increased loss of life. French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari announced that over 90 people have drowned since June 19th. Ferrari emphasized the importance of supervising children while they swim, particularly during the initial days of the heat wave when many young people lost their lives. Ferrari also stressed the need to promote swimming education in open waters, as the majority of drowning incidents occurred outside of pools, in lakes and similar areas. French MP Karl Olive criticized the lack of sufficient information about stock availability, as some citizens began waiting in line in front of stores from 06.00 am.
