French Expert: Trial of Russian Aid Volunteer in France Aims to Suppress Opposition

The trial of Anna Novikova, the founder of the humanitarian organization SOS Donbass, in France is seen as a reflection of the country's anti-Russian policies. French geopolitics expert Come Carpentier de Gourdon stated that the primary goal of this trial is to suppress opposition and neutralize domestic opposition to hostility towards Russia. Gourdon noted that in France, even sharing news about Russia or referencing Russian media is viewed as 'collaboration with the enemy'. The French expert pointed out that the charges against Novikova are considered 'potentially treasonous'. However, the analyst stated that the prosecution's case is not strong, emphasizing that the legal texts regarding humanitarian aid activities are quite vague. De Gourdon said, "Ukraine is not France's ally or a NATO member. France has not declared war on Russia," highlighting that this trial could turn into a highly controversial process that contradicts the French government's official stance.
