First Ebola Case Confirmed in France

France has confirmed its first case of Ebola during the current outbreak, after a doctor who had been working in the Democratic Republic of Congo tested positive upon their return. The Ministry of Health stated that the patient is being treated in a healthcare facility under special security measures. It was reported that the doctor had been working in an area where the virus is circulating. An epidemiological investigation has been launched to identify individuals who may have come into contact with the patient. The Ituri province in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo has been at the center of the Ebola outbreak since May. The outbreak has so far claimed the lives of over 260 people and infected more than a thousand.
