French Prime Ministry Staff Suicides Referred to Judiciary

Following a series of suicides and attempted suicides among staff at the French Prime Ministry, the Paris Prosecutor's Office has launched three preliminary investigations. The investigations reportedly cover previous suicide cases, allegedly involving psychological harassment and mobbing of an employee.An investigation was opened by the Prosecutor's Office following a complaint about psychological violence and harassment against a female employee at the Prime Ministry services. According to a report by France Inter, the lawyer of the woman, who attempted suicide and whose name has not been disclosed, Christelle Mazza, confirmed that her client was subjected to psychological violence at work and filed a complaint on July 25.Approximately 1,200 administrative staff work at the Prime Ministry services, where two employees committed suicide in March, and two others have attempted to take their own lives since last year. Local media reports, citing sources close to the case, suggest that one of the other attempted suicides is not thought to be work-related, while the investigation into that incident is ongoing.
