Voter Registration Begins in Palestine for General Elections After 20 Years
The voter registration and information update process has started in Palestine ahead of the general elections that have not been held since 2006. For the elections planned to be held on November 28, 2026, voters will be able to register or update their existing information. According to the announcement from the Palestinian Central Election Commission, the registration centers opened in the occupied West Bank will serve voters until Wednesday, August 19, to register and update their information. Citizens who are eligible but not registered in the voter registry were called to register, and registered voters were called to update their information. The Commission stated that the general elections are planned to be held in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. The announcement noted that every Palestinian citizen who has turned 17 has the right to register as a voter. The update of voter information will be carried out only in the West Bank, while citizens in the Gaza Strip will be automatically registered in the voter registry through the Palestinian Population Registry.
