FETÖ Member Burkay Karatepe Arrested for Involvement in Assassination Attempt

Burkay Karatepe, a member of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) who was involved in the assassination attempt against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the July 15 coup attempt in Marmaris, was arrested after being on the run for 10 years. Karatepe was captured in Afyonkarahisar as a result of a joint operation coordinated by the Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. He was then taken to Muğla by the Muğla Police Department's Counter-Terrorism (TEM) units. Following his procedures at the police station, Karatepe was taken to the courthouse under heavy security measures . After his statement at the prosecutor's office, he was brought before the peace criminal judge and arrested. During the judge's interrogation, Karatepe repeated the statements he made at the police station and the prosecutor's office, and requested to be tried without arrest.
