Search for Arms and Ammunition in Areas Indicated by FETÖ's Karatepe

Following the arrest of Burkay Karatepe, who was involved in the assassination attempt against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the July 15 coup attempt, search and screening activities have begun in the areas he indicated. A total of 155 personnel, including 23 detectors and operators, as well as 3 tracking dogs, are conducting search and screening operations in areas where arms and ammunition are believed to be found. As part of the investigation led by the Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a search operation has been launched in the areas where Karatepe claimed to have buried long-barreled weapons, pistols, and ammunition in the Armutalan and İçmeler neighborhoods of Marmaris, Muğla. Meanwhile, DNA comparison and matching studies are being conducted on blood and hair samples taken from the suspect to determine the connection with the weapons seized during the search operations since July 15, 2016. In the areas where arms and ammunition are believed to be found, a comprehensive search and screening operation is being carried out with the participation of 155 personnel, including 23 detectors and operators, as well as 3 tracking dogs, from the Special Operations Department of the General Directorate of Security and the Gendarmerie Commando units.
