UEFA Imposes Sanction on Fenerbahçe: A Significant Decision

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), through its Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) First Chamber, announced that it has imposed a significant sanction on Fenerbahçe. The Turkish club was found to have breached the squad cost rule by reporting a squad cost ratio above the set 70% threshold for the 2025 calendar year, resulting in a fine of 7 million euros. This decision did not only affect Fenerbahçe but also other clubs such as Aston Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, OGC Nice, RC Strasbourg, AEK Athens, and Fiorentina, all of whom were found to have violated the same rule. According to UEFA's statement, the fines imposed were calculated considering the extent of the breach above the set threshold. It was noted that Fenerbahçe, along with the other clubs, was subject to a thorough evaluation, and the necessary penalties were applied.
