Scientists have made a comprehensive theoretical calculation to determine how long it would take for the universe to completely disappear. Dutch researchers, based on the Hawking radiation theory introduced by physicist Stephen Hawking in the 1970s, have made a calculation about the end of the universe. This calculation shows that the time it would take for the universe to completely 'evaporate' is a year followed by 78 zeros. The researchers emphasize that this timeframe is too large for the human mind to comprehend. Hawking radiation is caused by virtual particle pairs that constantly appear and disappear in the vacuum of space, according to quantum physics. When one particle falls into a black hole, the other can escape into space. The escaping particle takes energy from the black hole, causing the black hole to lose mass over time. This process continues for billions or even mind-bogglingly long years, eventually causing the black hole to completely evaporate. The researchers argue that a similar mechanism could theoretically apply to other large celestial bodies with mass.
