Major Human Trafficking Operation in Ethiopia: Ringleader Arrested

Ethiopian police have arrested Muhammed Tahir, the alleged leader of a multi-million dollar international human trafficking network, along with 16 other suspects.
Following the operation, the Ethiopian police revealed the methods used by Tahir and the other suspects to smuggle Ethiopian migrants to Saudi Arabia via Djibouti and Yemen.
According to allegations, the network smuggled over 40,000 Ethiopian migrants and collected more than 1 billion Ethiopian birr (approximately $6.1 million) from the victims.
The Ethiopian Federal Police announced that the investigation file has been submitted to the Ministry of Justice. Muhammed Tahir and the other suspects have not yet been brought to court and have not commented on the charges against them.
