Former Qatari Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani Laid to Rest in Doha

The late former Qatari Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was bid farewell in a funeral ceremony held in the capital Doha. A 4-day national mourning period has been declared, during which flags will be flown at half-mast. Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended his father's funeral.The funeral prayer for the former Emir was performed at the Mohammed bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque in Doha. According to an announcement by the Qatari Emiri Diwan, the body will be buried at the Lusail Cemetery after the funeral prayer.Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will receive condolences from state leaders, members of the royal family, senior officials, and citizens at the Lusail Palace. Condolences will be accepted on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 08:00 to 11:30 local time and from the afternoon prayer to the evening prayer.Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani took over the reins in Qatar in 1995 and played a significant role in the country's modernization. Emir Hamad had voluntarily transferred power to his son, the current Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on June 25, 2013.
