The Famous House on the Rock in Erzincan is Up for Sale

The rock house built by retired teachers Bekir and Nermin Taştan on the top of a hill in Erzincan's Kemaliye district has been put up for sale.The property, which was built by the Taştan couple, has been priced at 30 million lira.The couple decided to build a house in the rocky area after settling in Kemaliye, seeking a quieter life after their duties in Istanbul.During the construction process, building materials such as sand, cement, and stone were first transported to the foot of the hill by human and animal power, and then lifted to the top using a primitive pulley system.After approximately two years of work, the house was completed, and a 96-step staircase carved into the rock is used to access it.The rock house, which offers a view of the valley and the district road, has become one of Kemaliye's symbols over time.The Taştan couple, who spend their summers in Kemaliye and winters in Istanbul, put the house up for sale at the end of June.
