Automatic Deduction Period for Retirees' Salaries Begins

Automatic Deduction Period for Retirees' Salaries Begins
The Social Security Institution (SGK) has determined the procedures and principles for deducting SGK debts from retirement salaries. Accordingly, deductions can be made from the salaries of those with certain debts without the need for enforcement proceedings or consent. While a maximum deduction of 25% is allowed directly from the salary, it has also been determined who will be subject to deduction and whose salaries will not be deducted. The accumulated debts of individuals receiving monthly payments from the SGK or their beneficiaries will now be directly deducted from their salaries. The deduction rate, which is legally allowed up to 25%, will be kept at a standard level of 10% in practice. No enforcement proceedings will be initiated, and the individuals' consent will not be required. The groups subject to deduction are as follows: -Monthly payments made to successful athletes. -Monthly payments made for damages resulting from terrorism and the fight against terrorism. -Honorary monthly payments whose costs are covered by the treasury.
