Banker Takes Advantage of Power Outage and Steals Gold

In Istanbul's Fatih district, a banker working at a currency exchange office took advantage of a power outage to steal 300 gold coins.As part of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Police Department, the banker, İ.K., was taken into custody. During the operation, 282 gold coins and 90,000 lira were seized.As the investigation continued, it was discovered that the suspect had previously stolen 100 grams of gold from the office and, in the latest theft, had melted down 18 gold coins at a jewelry store and replaced them with 100 grams of gold before leaving them at the office. The suspect, İ.K., was referred to court after completing the necessary procedures.The suspect's actions, including melting down the stolen gold coins at a jewelry store and replacing the previously stolen gold, were captured on security cameras.
