Rabies Alert in Diyarbakır: 3-Year-Old Child Hospitalized

In Diyarbakır's Sur district, a 3-year-old child tested positive for rabies virus in laboratory tests. The child had been scratched by a cat about 4 months ago. After applying to the hospital and undergoing examinations, a sample was taken due to suspicion of rabies and laboratory tests were conducted.According to the statement made by the Governor's Office, the sample taken from the child tested positive as of August 13. Following this, measures were increased in the region. The Ministry of Health and the District Health Directorate have initiated epidemiological investigation, contact tracing, and health checks in the area. Post-exposure prophylaxis was started for those who came into contact with the child. Additionally, public awareness and training activities are being carried out in the region.The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has taken measures in the region and initiated necessary fieldwork. Relevant municipalities have been informed to urgently carry out necessary work on stray animals. The process related to the case is being closely monitored in coordination with other institutions under the Governor's Office.
