Foreign Minister Fidan: We Expect the EU to Develop Relations Without Discrimination
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that the EU should develop its relations with Turkey based on objective criteria and merit, without discrimination. Minister Fidan met with EU representatives, including the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, the Member of the European Commission responsible for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and the Member responsible for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, in Ankara. During the meeting, they discussed various topics, including foreign policy, connectivity, trade, migration, and visa issues, as well as current regional and global issues, such as the situation in the Middle East and Russia-Ukraine.

We hope that this joint visit by the three key members of the European Commission will be an important step towards taking the relations between Turkey and the EU to the level we desire.

Fidan emphasized that EU membership remains a strategic goal for Turkey and that they are ready to develop relations with the EU based on this understanding.
