Expert Çebi: Measures Against Russian Trade Ships Will Have Consequences for the West

Expert Tuba Çebi evaluated the European Union's sanctions against Russian trade ships and Russian President Putin's statements. Çebi stated that the measures taken will have consequences for Western countries as well.In response to the European Union's pressure on Russian trade ships, Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted. Putin stated that if European countries start seizing Russian trade ships, Moscow will respond in the same manner.

The European Union's attempts to seize Russian trade ships are emerging as a hybrid pressure tool. These restrictions, which suspend or stretch the fundamental norms of international maritime law and freedom of navigation, are turning trade routes into covert war zones.

Çebi noted that the Western measures are an attack on fundamental rights such as property rights. Çebi said, “The Western countries' transformation of international financial infrastructure and property rights into a sanction weapon, the freezing of Russian state and individual assets, and the confiscation of these assets, is undermining the foundation of global trade.These actions against financial assets and trade ships are pushing the parties towards a dead end. The deepening crisis and hybrid pressure policies are paradoxically causing the most damage to the European Union economy, which is making the decisions. The high costs of being forced to abandon Russian energy sources, the loss of competitiveness in industrial production, high inflation, and supply security risks are pushing the EU to the brink of chronic stagnation.
