Conor McGregor's Return Cut Short Due to Injury in 69 Seconds
Conor McGregor, who returned to the UFC after more than five years, could only last 69 seconds in his match at the 329th organization. The Irish fighter was injured in the knee in the early stages of the match and could not continue. Initial assessments indicate that McGregor may have torn his anterior cruciate ligament. Conor McGregor made his highly anticipated return at UFC 329 in Las Vegas, facing Max Holloway. McGregor started the match strongly but was injured in the knee after an early move. Despite his injury, McGregor attempted a few more attacks but was unable to continue due to the pain in his knee. The match, scheduled for five rounds, lasted only 1 minute and 9 seconds. UFC President Dana White stated after the match, "It's really tough to be away from this sport for five years. Our initial guess is an ACL injury." Max Holloway, the favorite to win the match, joked after McGregor's injury, saying, "What can I say? I guess I'm the one who shook his knees." Holloway later said, "This match needs to be remade. It's really sad that it ended like this."
