China Braces for Super Typhoon Bavi After Flood Disaster

The effects of climate change and El Niño have led to a warning of Super Typhoon Bavi in China, following recent floods. Scientists warn that the country may face a series of typhoons, floods, and landslides this year. The China National Climate Center predicts above-average typhoon formation in the Northwest Pacific and South China Sea in July. It forecasts that up to six typhoons may form this month, with three possibly making landfall, and typhoons are expected to be stronger than usual. Last week, Typhoon Maysak caused significant destruction in China's Hainan and Guangxi regions. Authorities reported that at least six people lost their lives in Guangxi, and 375,000 people were affected by the floods. There are concerns that the death toll may rise. China is preparing for Super Typhoon Bavi, the second tropical cyclone to hit the country within a week. The typhoon, with a diameter of over 1,000 kilometers, has reached wind speeds of over 290 kilometers per hour. Experts warn that the heavy rainfall in the coming months may increase the risk of floods, landslides, and damage to agricultural areas.
