Snake Invasion After Floods in China: State of Emergency Declared

Following the severe typhoon and flood disaster in China's Guangxi province, a state of emergency was declared in Dengwei village after nearly 900 snakes escaped from a snake farm. The village is now dealing with the spread of hundreds of snakes, including deadly cobras. Villagers are trying to protect themselves from the snakes with bamboo sticks amidst the rising floodwaters .An alarm was raised at the provincial level, and many search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. The Guangcou Emergency Management Bureau announced that teams in special protective gear are conducting operations to capture the reptiles and evacuate those affected by the flood.Authorities have stated that the stock of antivenom in the region has been increased and special rapid response lines have been set up in local hospitals in case of cobra bites. So far, one villager has been hospitalized due to a snake bite.
