Brother of Turkish Opposition Lawmaker Veli Ağbaba Detained

A new detention order has been issued as part of the investigation into 'bid rigging' conducted by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Hür Ağbaba was detained and sent to prison after being taken to the courthouse.
The investigation, which is being carried out by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has led to the detention of Hür Ağbaba. After the prosecution's interrogation, Hür Ağbaba was referred to the on-duty judge of the peace and subsequently arrested and sent to prison.
Following the completion of his procedures at the courthouse, Hür Ağbaba was arrested and imprisoned. It has been stated that a connection was discovered between Hür Ağbaba and previously arrested Egeşehir Yapı Planlama Müşavirlik ve Teknoloji A.Ş. General Manager Süleyman Ekinci.
The investigation has also looked into Ekinci's commercial relationship with Erensan İnşaat, a company that allegedly participated in various public tenders in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions through a joint venture model.
The case file contains allegations that the company in question was awarded contracts for the 3rd and 4th phase projects of the İzmir İş İnsanları Örnekköy Konut Yapı Kooperatifi, and that the construction supervision process was carried out by Egeşehir Yapı.
It has been stated that the fact that the same company had influence in both the tender process and the supervision phase is being investigated in terms of 'conflict of interest' and 'irregular supervision mechanism'.
Previously detained individuals, including Süleyman Ekinci, an official from Erensan İnşaat, an official from Okçuoğlu İnşaat Mühendislik Müşavirlik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., and the former general manager of İZBETON, H.S., were arrested and sent to prison on May 23.
