Czech Republic Declines to Join 70 Billion Euro Ukraine Support Package

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis announced that his country will not be joining NATO's 70 billion euro military aid package for Ukraine. During the NATO summit in Ankara, member countries pledged to provide Ukraine with 70 billion euros in support for 2026 and at least an equivalent level for 2027. The summit reaffirmed the commitment to NATO's Article 5, which considers an attack on one member as an attack on all, and to the transatlantic bond. It was also announced that member countries will launch new defense procurement programs exceeding $50 billion. NATO members committed to providing Ukraine with a total of 70 billion euros in support for 2026. The declaration stated that the allies reaffirmed their sovereign decisions to maintain at least the same level of support in 2027.
