Mayor of Çankaya Removed from Office

Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner has been removed from office by the Ministry of Interior.Güner is being investigated for 'forming a criminal organization', 'accepting bribes', and 'manipulating public tenders'.Güner, who was arrested as part of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, made statements to the police and prosecutor's office. In his statement, Güner said that he did not determine the tenders and procurement processes during his term, and that these processes were carried out by the relevant departments and the Central Procurement Bureau.Güner stated,

I make a living from the mayor's salary and the amount I receive from the municipal council. I also have rental income from an apartment that was inherited. The house I declared as my residence is registered in my name. My mother uses the apartment, the 500 square meter plot of land in Izmir, and the vehicle registered in my name. All of these assets were mine before I was elected mayor. I have acquired them through personal savings and inheritance. I have active credit cards and accounts at various banks. I also have an account at Garanti Bank for the municipal council allowance. I do not have a crypto account.
