New Measures Taken in Çanakkale Against Increasing Forest Fire Risk
The Çanakkale Governorship has taken new measures against the increasing forest fire risk. Harvesting and baling activities with combine harvesters and baling machines were suspended between 12.00-18.00 every day from July 29 to August 1.Additionally, spiral, grinding, and welding activities that could cause fires in open areas were also temporarily banned. In the statement made by the Governorship, it was stated that according to the meteorological evaluations and the fire risk analysis carried out by the Forest Regional Directorate, it is expected that high temperatures, strong winds, and low humidity values will be effective throughout the province for 4 days starting from July 29.The authorities drew attention to the fact that the emerging weather conditions will significantly increase the risk of forest fires. The Governorship decided to suspend harvesting and baling activities with combine harvesters and baling machines between 12.00-18.00 from July 29 to August 1 in order to prevent fires that may occur in agricultural areas from spreading to forested areas.
