Giant Vessel Passes Through the Dardanelles: Transit Traffic Halted

The Bahamian-flagged deep-sea pipe-laying vessel 'Castorone' has completed its passage through the Dardanelles.
The 102,032-gross-ton 'Castorone', measuring 325 meters in length, sailed through the Dardanelles from the Marmara Sea en route to Greece. During this passage, transit ship traffic in the strait was temporarily halted.
The reason for halting traffic in the strait was to ensure the safe passage of large vessels.
According to officials, once the 'Castorone' vessel reaches the Aegean Sea, traffic flow in the strait will return to normal.
