Minister Şimşek Comments on Inflation: Disinflation Process Restarted

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek evaluated the inflation figures for June. Minister Şimşek stated that the monthly inflation rate was 0.99% and the disinflation process has restarted.
According to Minister Şimşek's evaluation, the annual inflation rate in June decreased by 0.5 points compared to the previous month, reaching 32.1%. The positive trend in food prices, influenced by the fresh fruit and vegetable prices, increased by 0.2% monthly, while the decline in fuel prices also supported the inflation outlook.
Minister Şimşek announced that they expect the disinflation to continue with the normalization of commodity prices, rule-based pricing practices, a downward trend in rent inflation, and a moderate demand outlook for the rest of the year.
