The Pursuit of Justice in the Shadow of Ayşe Tokyaz's Death: Latest Developments in the Case

The case of Ayşe Tokyaz, a 22-year-old university student murdered by Cemil Koç on July 13, 2025, continues with new developments.
In the case, the defendant Cemil Koç is requested to be sentenced to the upper limit for three separate crimes. Cemil Koç stated that he did not request a reduction in punishment and wanted the heaviest sentence.
The detained defendant Cemil Koç and some other detained defendants were connected to the hearing via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS). The hearing was attended by Ayşe Tokyaz's twin sister Esra Tokyaz and her mother Halime Tokyaz, as well as many observers.
In the prosecutor's opinion, it is alleged that Koç murdered Tokyaz by planning, torturing, and brutalizing her, and it is requested that he be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of “Murder by Planning and Torturing a Woman”, 1 to 3 years in prison for the crime of “Blackmail”, and 2 to 7 years in prison for the crime of “Depriving a Person of Their Liberty”.
