Turkey Continues to Battle Forest Fires in Aydın and Balıkesir

Turkey is fighting forest fires in different parts of the country. Aerial operations have resumed in the Gömeç and Ayvalık districts of Balıkesir and the Çine district of Aydın. The forest fire in Balıkesir has spread to Ayvalık and Bergama in İzmir due to the wind. The fire is being combated with 5 planes, 6 helicopters, 57 fire trucks, 42 fire engines, 58 water tankers, 16 initial response vehicles, 181 service vehicles, 14 bulldozers, 17 excavators and graders, 3 TOMAs, 10 buses, 13 ambulances, 850 personnel, and 55 forest volunteers. As a precautionary measure, the Hacıveliler and Tıfıllar neighborhoods in Ayvalık and the Bağyüzü Neighborhood have been evacuated. The Governorship of Balıkesir announced that a total of 5 people, including 2 firefighters from the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, 1 personnel from the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, 1 personnel from the Forest Operation, and 1 civilian, were injured during the firefighting efforts.
