Europe Scorched: Western Europe Sees Record June Temperatures

June temperatures in Europe have reached record levels. According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service, part of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, Western Europe experienced its hottest June on record in 2026.The temperatures across Europe were also noteworthy. June 2026 became the second-hottest June on record for the entire continent. The global land surface temperature was 16.54 degrees, 0.56 degrees above the 1991-2020 average, and 1.39 degrees higher than the pre-industrial average.The global sea surface temperature in June 2026 was also at a record high, reaching 20.86 degrees.In Western Europe, temperatures exceeded the 1991-2020 June average by 3.05 degrees, marking the hottest June on record for the region.
