Europe Hit by Heatwave: Trains Halted, Firefighters Battle Blazes

A heatwave is affecting Europe, disrupting daily life and transport in Belgium, Germany, and Croatia. Train services have been cancelled in Belgium due to high temperatures, while Germany and Croatia are battling wildfires that have forced thousands to evacuate.In Belgium, where temperatures are expected to reach 38 degrees, railway company SNCB has cancelled some train services. The company stated that many of the cancelled trains are old and lack air conditioning, making it impossible to transport passengers safely.In Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia state, a forest fire is approaching residential areas, prompting the evacuation of around 2,000 people. The flames have come within 200 meters of homes, but police reported no incidents during the evacuations.A forest fire broke out near the coastal town of Omis in Croatia, spreading to residential areas due to strong winds. Around 1,500 people were evacuated, and over 150 firefighters are battling the blaze. The Croatian military has also deployed fire-fighting planes to assist in the efforts.
