One-Third of Europeans Worried About Decline in Living Standards
According to the Eurobarometer survey conducted by the European Parliament, 29% of Europeans are concerned that their living standards will decline over the next five years. The survey also found that a majority of participants have a pessimistic view of the world's future.While most European citizens are optimistic about their country's future, it is noteworthy that only Germans, French, and Greeks have a majority with a pessimistic view on this matter.In general, Europeans are optimistic about the EU's future, but a majority of citizens in Greece and France are pessimistic, while in Germany, pessimistic and optimistic views are equally distributed. When asked which areas the EU should focus on to strengthen its position on the global stage, the most common answers included 'defense and security', 'energy independence, resources, and infrastructure', and 'competitiveness, economy, and industry'.
