The Cost of Ashura Has Increased This Year

With the arrival of the month of Muharram, preparations for ashura are in full swing. However, this year, the increase in food prices means that ashura lovers will have to dig deeper into their pockets. The cost of a pot of ashura for 8-10 people varies between 550-850 TL, depending on the variety of ingredients used. In particular, the price increases in hazelnuts and pistachios have significantly impacted the total cost. With price increases of up to 80% for hazelnuts and 85% for pistachios, the cost of ashura's richer versions has risen substantially. According to experts, one of the main reasons for the price fluctuations is the agricultural frost that occurred last year. The loss of crops reduced the supply of dried fruits and nuts, leading to higher prices.
