Aromatherapy Products Will Only Be Sold in Pharmacies

A new regulation regarding aromatherapy products has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect. The new regulation, prepared by the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, states that products containing essential oils derived from plants can only be sold in pharmacies. The regulation brings significant changes to the sale of aromatherapy products.According to the regulation, aromatherapy products can be sold in pharmacies, regardless of whether they require a prescription or not. Furthermore, sales permits are mandatory for aromatherapy products that are being introduced to the market for the first time. The promotion of these products can only take place within pharmacies, and promotional activities can only be carried out in accordance with the approved purpose by the institution.The regulation also introduces new obligations for aromatherapy products whose licenses have been revoked. The production and importation of such products will be halted immediately. The regulation aims to tighten the control over the licensing, production, transfer, and promotion processes of these products.
