Decision Relieving Vehicle Owners: No Penalty for Port Baggage and Tent Fittings

The Ministry of Interior has announced that removable equipment such as port baggage, tent, and ski carriage fittings installed on vehicles will no longer be considered as technical modifications. As a result, administrative actions under Article 32 of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918 will not be applied to these equipment during traffic inspections.According to the decision taken at the meeting of the Vehicle Manufacturing, Modification, and Assembly (AITM) Sub-Committee, port baggage is defined as closed and locked luggage carrying equipment fixed on existing or subsequently mounted intermediate brackets on the vehicle. The Ministry of Interior's circular emphasizes that these equipment do not alter the vehicle's structural integrity and safety parameters, and do not interfere with the chassis and body structure, and therefore, will not result in administrative fines during traffic inspections.
