New Regulation for Vehicle Owners Has Come into Effect

The Insurance Experts Appointment Regulation, prepared by the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency (SEDDK), has been published in the Official Gazette and has come into effect.
With the new regulation, significant changes have been made to the processes of damage assessment, expert appointment, and vehicle depreciation after traffic accidents. The aim is to speed up the processes and prevent abuses.
Under the new system, when a vehicle is taken to an authorized service, contracted service, or any bodywork-painting service, an expert will be automatically assigned after the accident documents are uploaded to the system.
Additionally, the vehicle owner can also request an expert. The insurance company and the vehicle owner can assign an expert through the system.
The goal is to prevent intermediaries, agents, or those acting through power of attorney from being involved in the process, and to ensure that damage transactions are carried out directly by the rightful owner.
With the regulation, a new application has been introduced regarding the damage amount. Accordingly, it will be mandatory to assign an expert for damages exceeding one-tenth of the material coverage amount of the traffic insurance.
