Vehicle Owners Attention: Payment to be Made in 5 Days

The last week has begun for the payment of Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) which concerns millions of vehicle owners. The deadline for the second installment of MTV payments is Friday, July 31.The MTV, which is paid twice a year, is divided into two equal installments in January and July. MTV payments can be made from the Digital Tax Office (dijital.gib.gov.tr) or the GİB mobile application. In the Digital Tax Office, payment can be made by bank or credit card of contracted banks, by wire transfer from the bank account, or by cards of banks operating in foreign countries. Tax payment can also be made from authorized banks for tax collection, tax office cashiers, and PTT branches. From the Digital Tax Office, the payment process can be completed by entering the plate, TC ID number, registration date, or ownership document date without entering the password for the MTV payment area. When making payments over the internet, it is essential to enter the address "gib.gov.tr" or the official internet addresses of banks in the browser to avoid grievances. Vehicles registered in the name of people with 90% or more disability are exempt from MTV. Special-purpose vehicles and some vehicles belonging to foreign diplomatic missions are also excluded from the scope. In addition, taxes are not collected from vehicles registered in the name of public administrations, social security institutions, municipalities, village legal entities, local administration unions, and the Red Crescent. The Motor Vehicle Tax varies depending on the age, type, engine capacity, engine power, value, and weight of the vehicle. For vehicles with an engine capacity of up to 1300 cc and a value exceeding 541 thousand liras, the annual MTV was determined as 6 thousand 902 liras for 1-3 years old, 4 thousand 807 liras for 4-6 years old, and 2 thousand 693 liras for 7-11 years old. The MTV prices for vehicles with an engine capacity between 1301-1600 cc and a value exceeding 541 thousand liras are as follows: "12 thousand 28 liras for 1-3 years old, 9 thousand 12 liras for 4-6 years old, and 5 thousand 220 liras for 7-11 years old"
