New Era in Car Rental: 6-Year and 180,000 Kilometer Limit

New rules are being introduced in the car rental sector to strengthen consumer rights and improve service quality. Under the Motor Vehicle Rental Regulation published in the Official Gazette, age and kilometer limits will be applied to rental vehicles. Companies will be required to obtain a permit. According to the new regulation, vehicles over 6 years old, excluding classic cars, will not be allowed to be rented. Vehicles that have exceeded 180,000 kilometers will not be able to be used in the rental service. The kilometer limit for electric vehicles will be 300,000. The regulation will not only consider age and kilometer criteria but also the maintenance and damage status of the vehicles for rental eligibility. Vehicles that have not had periodic maintenance will not be allowed to be rented. Similarly, vehicles with a heavy damage record will not be able to be used in the rental service.
