Constitutional Court Announces Decision on Madımak Massacre Case: Compensation to be Paid to Families

The Constitutional Court has ruled that the judicial process regarding the Madımak Massacre, which occurred on July 2, 1993, in Sivas, was not conducted effectively. As a result, the court has decided that compensation will be paid to the families of the victims. The Constitutional Court made this decision following an individual application regarding the Madımak Massacre case, stating that the judicial process was not conducted effectively, thus violating the right to life in terms of procedure. The court ruled that the applicants would receive compensation for non-pecuniary damages. The individual application, which was made in 2014, was considered by the Constitutional Court's General Assembly on July 23. The High Court concluded that the judicial process was not conducted effectively and therefore made a decision on the violation. The reasoning behind the decision will be announced later.
