Germany Prepares Secret Emergency Plan for Prolonged Power Outages

Germany is preparing an emergency plan for prolonged power outages.
The Federal Network Agency has been developing a system called 'SiPlaS' since 2024. This system aims to centrally manage the electricity consumption of large industrial establishments in the event of power shortages that can last for days or weeks.
Large industrial establishments with an annual electricity consumption of at least 8 gigawatt hours will be registered on the platform. The system aims to enable the state to quickly track the electricity consumption of major electricity consumers.
In the event of an extraordinary supply shortage, companies may be warned 24 hours to three days in advance to reduce their electricity consumption.
The goal is to preserve the electricity needs of hospitals, households, and other critical infrastructure.
The Federal Network Agency stated that there is currently no such power shortage in Germany.
