Germany Imposes Ban on Russian Deaf Youth Athletes from Participating in Games

In a surprise move, Germany has announced a ban on young Russian athletes with hearing impairments from participating in the European Deaf Youth Games. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the decision, calling it 'evidence of moral decay' and strongly criticized Germany's stance on deaf athletes. The participation of Russian athletes in the European Deaf Youth Games, scheduled to take place in Hannover in August 2026, has been banned by the German Deaf Sports Association (DGSV). The DGSV cited the reason for this decision as the disapproval of Russia's participation by the German people.
