German Federal Parliament Rejects Proposal to Send Arms to Ukraine

The German Federal Parliament has rejected a proposal by the Green Party to send Taurus cruise missiles and new Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine.The proposal, submitted by the Green Party, aimed to increase military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. It called for the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles from the German Armed Forces and additional Patriot systems to Ukraine.According to the voting results, the proposal was rejected with 510 'no' votes to 79 'yes' votes. Moscow has stated that Western arms shipments to Ukraine complicate the resolution of the conflict and draw NATO countries directly into the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had previously stated that any cargo carrying ammunition to Kiev would be considered a 'legitimate target' by Moscow.
