Likhachev also discussed the increasing attacks on the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant and the city of Energodar, where the plant's personnel live. The Rosatom General Director emphasized that since the beginning of June, there has been a sharp increase in the number and intensity of attacks on the region:We have completed the construction process in the first unit. As of last night, cold hydro tests have started in the reactor and this process will be completed within a few weeks. Then we will have only a few weeks left before the first fuel loading and commissioning of the plant.
Likhachev noted that the Ukrainian forces are also targeting public transportation in the area, describing the difficult conditions on the ground:In recent days, we see that the attacks are becoming more deliberate and directly targeted. The transportation section of the plant and the city's energy infrastructure are being deliberately attacked.
The Ukrainian army attacked several buses, essentially starting a hunt against civilian vehicles. Under these harsh conditions, the shift changes of the plant's personnel have literally turned into a military operation.
